ViewHere is something that we are all loving in Music Junkie at the minute. Fresh instore – the Gibson Les Paul Traditional Mahogany Satin.
With an ‘80s and early ‘90s design and visual style, the new Traditional Mahogany line is an amazing new addition to the range, with snarling Les Paul tone, and that great playability synonymous with Gibson guitars. Now Gibson USA have giving this very popular guitar an all-mahogany purity treatment, with a feel like the Les Paul Custom and Special models of the ‘50s but with traditional Les Paul traditional features, in this great new model. With two of Gibson’s most popular alnico pickups, a fast 60’s neck, with a genuine rosewood fingerboard, this baby is the real deal. You can pick a choice of colours, Satin Vintage Sunburst, Satin Cherry, Satin Ebony or Worn Brown, in a wonderful nitrocellulose lacquer.
The real prime feature of this guitar is the brilliant Grade-A Mahogany woods used. This all-mahogany body is so pure and beaut! It’s crazy what a difference it makes to the feel of the guitar. The back is weight relieved with nine holes placed strategically along it, which enhance the guitar’s resonance, and are finally capped with a carved two-piece mahogany top, which is totally like the Les Paul Custom introduced in 1954. Let’s go a bit deeper. The mahogany neck is made from quarter-sawn timber, which give it more strength and resonance. This is topped off with a Grade-A bi-layer rosewood fingerboard. 22 medium-jumbo frets and cream binding.
The Traditional carries two of Gibson USA’s incredibly popular humbucking pickups, a ’57 Classic rocking in the neck position for a sweet singing tone. It truly sings out, giving an incredibly warm feel. With a hotter ’57 Classic Plus in the bridge, this gives a much more crunchy attacking sound. These pickups are made up of Alnico II magnets. These offer a depth and clarity that very few pickups nowadays can match up against. With a tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece giving a solid anchor to the guitar, with the most optimum sustain, vintage-looking TonePro tuners and pearloid buttons help to keep that classic look. Great Gibson headstock and silkscreened gold ‘Les Paul Model’ help to complete the look.If you’re looking for a Les Paul and want something with an incredibly warm crunchy tone, endless playability and a very cool style then look no further.
