The latest in Focusrite’s range of high quality USB interfaces, the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 USB Interface is designed to be your studio’s centrepiece. It features 18 inputs and 20 outputs in total, more than enough to record and mix a full band.
You get 8 critically acclaimed microphone preamps with phantom power, up to 60dB of gain and pad an instrument switches on 1 and 2. You’ll be able to use high quality condenser microphones, keyboards and synthesisers with ease, perfect for recording acoustic instruments, vocals or producing electronic music (or all three). Industry standard dynamic range (24-bit/96 kHz A-D/D-A conversion) ensures pristine, studio quality audio recordings.
Focusrite are very good at solving those small problems that stop things flowing as smoothly you’d like, in keeping with this tradition they’ve included dual independent headphone sockets. This means separate headphone mixes for engineer and artist are easily achieved, whist a dedicated monitor section provides comprehensive control over your studio monitors.Being a musician myself this kind of thing is great to see, I don’t have firewire and it’s sometimes difficult to find the same functionality with USB. I like the idea of having 8 mic preamps, I can get a drum kit mic’d up, bassist DI’d and record my guitar and vocals live with the copy of Ableton Lite you get free with it. I’m then free to add reverb, EQ, and compression, postproduction, with the Focusrite Scarlett plug-in suite. All in the comfort of my own home. If you want to DIY but still keep a studio quality end result, this is an essential piece of equipment.
Sound like just the thing for you? Well, of course it does. Come on down to our flagship music store in Leicester and we'll get your studio kitted out!
